Plamena Kirilova is a final-year Pharmacy student at Medical University – Sofia and is completing her thesis at the Computational Toxicology and Omics Research Laboratory.
In her own words:
“My interest in science and innovative therapeutic approaches led me to pursue research in RNA-based therapies, particularly the therapeutic potential of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs).
At the Laboratory, I found a supportive environment where I can freely ask questions, develop my scientific interests and acquire valuable practical skills.
I believe that omics analyses play a key role in improving our understanding of disease mechanisms and in developing more precise diagnostics and personalised therapeutic approaches.
For me, taking part in research is an opportunity not only to learn new methods but also to develop critical thinking and analytical skills that will be valuable in my future professional practice as a pharmacist.”
Research interests: RNA interference (RNAi), siRNA-based therapeutic approaches, omics and transcriptomics.
