Prof. Stefanova graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Medical University - Sofia and has international training experience, including exchange and Erasmus activities. She has been with the Department since 2015 and holds a specialty in Toxicology and Toxicological Analysis.
Expertise
- In vitro toxicological characterization of synthetic and natural compounds.
- Nano-sized drug-delivery systems and nanotoxicology.
- In vitro and in vivo modeling of pathological damage, including neurodegeneration, hepatotoxicity and diabetes-related models.
- Protective effects, detoxification mechanisms, drug metabolism and drug toxicity.

Prof. Stefanova supports MU OmicsLab projects through experimental toxicology expertise, model-system knowledge, validation planning and co-mentorship in projects that connect molecular readouts with functional toxicological endpoints.
